Help keep our kids safe!

One of the reasons Tasty Clean was started was to keep our baby safe and free from unnecessary germs while in public. Now that the kids are growing, we are more and more concerned as a family about keeping our children physically safe as they engage in sports. So this April we participate in the National Youth Sports Safety Month and wanted to share this information and safety tips with you.

April Observes National Youth Sports Safety Month

Each year, 2.6 million children are treated in emergency rooms for sports-related injuries in the United States. 90% of student-athletes report having had an injury while playing a sport. Sports are a great opportunity for children to engage socially while maintaining a healthy, physically active lifestyle. However, sports injuries do occur and keep too many kids on the sidelines.

Here are some easy tips to ensure your kids stay safe while having fun in their sport:

  • Make sure your child has received a physical exam before participating in organized sports.
  • Stretch! Make sure your child stretches out their muscles before every practice or game. It’s equally important to do cool-down stretches after playing.
  • Make sure to bring a water bottle to practices and games to avoid dehydration. Kids need to make sure they are staying hydrated as they’ll be sweating from all the activity!
  • Coaches should be first aid and CPR certified. They should also know the signs and symptoms of a concussion.

Equipment is also a key component for many sports. Follow these guidelines to help prevent sports injuries:

  • Make sure your child has the correct protective gear for their sport. This may be helmets, elbow/knee pads, or wrist guards.
  • Be certain that all sports protective equipment is in good condition and fits appropriately. Also make sure your child wears their equipment correctly at all times.

Youth sports are a great opportunity for your child to make meaningful friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. Kids who participate in sports love to give it their all and following these safety tips will help make sure they’ll be able to do so all season long!

And while you are at it, include Tasty Clean products in your backpack and sports bags to safely sanitize their hands and gear, and keep any gear that goes into their mouths and dental appliances clean and fresh! Visit our online store to shop our products.
